SmartUIB is an institutional project of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB); it is created through Executive Decision 10774 (Full Official UIB, FOU, number 389). This innovation initiative, at the framework of the Vice President for innovation and transfer, is intended to improve, in general, the efficiency of the university, to develop smart technologies to transfer to society and improve the employability of students forming it with a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Ca ses Llúcies opens the door to innovation in sustainability

La UIB ha conclòs el projecte de rehabilitació constructiva i energètica de l’edifici de Ca ses Llúcies, un antic habitatge de construcció tradicional situat a l’extrem est del campus. L'edifici, que té una superfície de 250 m2 dividida en dues plantes, està envoltat per un jardí de 1.000 m2, aproximadament, i ha de servir com a exemple d'espai sostenible, intel·ligent i saludable (SIS), en el marc del programa d'innovació de la Universitat de les Illes Balears, l'SmartUIB. El projecte ha estat finançat amb fons FEDER i es convertirà en un centre d'innovació.
